A Chocolate Smoothie You Can Eat For Breakfast, Dessert, Or Whenever!

Ever since I got my new blender, I have been on a mission to create new delicious smoothie recipes. While it is fun to blend green juices and fruit smoothies, I have to admit sometimes my sweet tooth craves more than that, so I experiment until I come up with something that can satisfy my cravings and also be considered…nutritious!

This is a sweet treat you could eat at any time. I actually just made one and brought it over to my pregnant girlfriend’s house to share. She has been struggling with things to eat when she is hungry at odd hours. I think this may be the perfect thing for her.

I highly recommend any chocolate lover try this delicious smoothie. I used chocolate flavored rice protein powder from Growing Naturals and it was definitely an added bonus to my smoothie. Rice protein powder is vegetarian and allergen friendly while also being low fat and low calorie. Rice protein powder also contains all 9 essential amino acids and is beneficial in aiding in muscle recovery.

The other new product I used is a ground chia/flaxseed blend from Spectrum Essentials that has added coconut and cocoa. This blend has 3 grams of fiber per serving and is rich in Omega-3, which is an essential fatty acid. I always like when I can incorporate healthy fats into a smoothie without them ruining the taste of it. Usually fats will enhance the taste of things, but with seeds, sometimes I can be unsure. This blend is a winner.

I also added raw cacao powder, which is extremely rich in chocolate flavor, magnesium and iron, but has very minimal sugar. I believe adding cacao powder to a smoothie will satisfy cravings for chocolate because it is chocolate in its purest form without addicting additives.

I used an almond/coconut milk blend for the base, which also has minimal calories but gives the “milky” base for the smoothie. Adding a banana makes the smoothie creamier and a little sweeter. You can skip the banana if you like and just add more ice, but I personally LOVE bananas!

CRAZY FOR CHOCOLATE SMOOTHIE

1 cup almond/coconut milk blend

1 packet of Growing Naturals Rice Protein Powder in Chocolate

2 tablespoons of Spectrum Essentials Chia/Flaxseed blend with Coconut and Chocolate

1 heaping tablespoon of raw cacao powder

1 banana

A scoop of ice
