Blackberry Almond Butter Oats w/Chia
I was trying to come up with a new breakfast idea that was like others, but slightly different. Overnight oats has been done before a million times. This is when you take oats and soak them overnight and they absorb the liquid you put them in. You can use any kind of yogurt or milk. I prefer almond myself. I see many people use a mason jar for them, which is great for refrigerator storage.
In this particular recipe I not only used almond milk for my overnight soaking, I also added chia seeds, cinnamon, honey and a hefty scoop of almond butter, for added satiety.
The next morning after the oats had soaked, I poured them into a bowl and added fresh blackberries and a handful of slivered almonds. Blackberries have a high concentration of antioxidants, are low in calories and high in fiber and can help you stay full until your next meal. This is a great breakfast for someone with a busy active lifestyle and needs something in the morning that will keep them satisfied for at least 3-4 hours.
